Auction Begins to Close: Wednesday, November 18 @ 6:00 p.m.
Bruce Peninsula Bird Observatory (BPBO), is a registered Ontario charitable, non-profit member based organization. Please view the website: www.bpbo.ca
The BPBO mission is to promote and foster the study, appreciation and conservation of birds, and their habitats on the Bruce Peninsula. The money raised from this auction will help to operate the Cabot Head Research Station. Operating for 20 years at the tip of the Bruce Peninsula, the station monitors bird migration during the spring and fall. During the migration seasons, the station scientist (and volunteers), capture birds in mist nets, identify, weigh, measure, band and record each bird that is captured before it is released. There is also a daily census taken of birds in the area, such as nighthawks, bald eagles, hawks and shorebirds. The BPBO is part of a network of 30 other stations located across Canada. The data collected is a critical part of understanding bird populations and their behaviour, and forms part of the Canadian Migration Monitoring Network.
Covid has been financially difficult for BPBO, and we thank you for your support.
